The Co-operators collecting clothes to support the Diabetes Association of Canada
GUELPH, ON, Nov. 28, 2012 /CNW/ - The Co-operators is once again lending its support to the Diabetes Association of Canada. From November 26 to December 8, 11 Co-operators offices across Canada will serve as drop-off points for donations of gently used clothing and shoes in support of the Diabetes Clothesline.
The Canadian Diabetes Association has an exclusive partnership with Value Village, where all donated items are sold, and 100 per cent of net proceeds of The Co-operators Clothesline campaign will directly benefit the Canadian Diabetes Association and support diabetes research, education and advocacy. In past campaigns, The Co-operators collected more than 4,600 pounds of clothing.
"The Co-operators promotes and encourages volunteerism, and prides itself on its involvement with the communities in which we work and live," said Kathy Bardswick, President and CEO of The Co-operators. "That's why we're so pleased to once again team up with The Canadian Diabetes Association, and help make a difference in the lives of Canadians living with diabetes."
Diabetes is a debilitating, and sometimes fatal, disease wherein the body doesn't produce enough insulin, resulting in dangerous levels of glucose in the blood stream, causing damage to organs, blood vessels and nerves. Money raised through the Diabetes Clothesline will fund research for a cure, and help nine million Canadians living with diabetes lead healthier lives.
