The Co-operators donates $183,900 to United Way Regina

REGINA, March 12, 2014 /CNW/ - Co-operators Life Insurance Company and its employees raised a total of $183,900 during the 2013 United Way campaign to support the vital health and social services provided by United Way member agencies in Regina.

As part of the staff-led campaign, employees made donations at fundraising events such as casual days, raffles and United Way education sessions and through payroll deductions, raising $98,928. The Co-operators made a corporate contribution of $84,975.

"Being able to raise funds and contribute directly to the United Way in support of local member agencies who provide vital community services in Regina always brings out the greatest creativity and generosity in our staff," said Kevin Daniel, Chief Operating Officer of Co-operators Life. "We are able to see the difference our donations make every day in the community and we feel great knowing we are helping make a lasting impact."

Nationally, The Co-operators group of companies raised $686,288 for the United Way. A series of local staff-led campaign were conducted in offices throughout the country, with both individual donations and corporate contributions directed to local United Way chapters.

The United Way is the largest non-government funder of social services and the voluntary sector in Canada. Based on local needs and challenges, the United Way provides much-needed funding to its member agencies, helping to improve the quality of life for all Canadians.  With funding from local donors like The Co-operators, United Way chapters in Canada are able to improve lives and build community by engaging individuals and mobilizing collective action.
