TORONTO, July 23, 2019 /CNW/ - The Coalition of Concerned Manufacturers and Businesses of Canada is proud to welcome three special advisors to the Board.
Catherine Swift, Dan McTeague and Patrick Moore will bring their wealth of experience in politics, business, and advocacy to their roles as Special Advisors to the Board of the CCMBC.
Catherine Swift will act as Special Advisor for Small to Medium Business and the Economy. Catherine has long been a champion for small and medium businesses in Canada. She is a well-respected economist and the CCMBC is thrilled to have her serve as special advisor in this key role. Her insights will help inform the association's economic policy positions on critical business issues.
Dan McTeague will assume the role of Special Advisor on Energy. Dan is an expert on gas pricing and energy policy. He has worked diligently over the years to help consumers get maximum value from their fuel purchases with TomorrowsGasPriceToday.com and Gaspricewizard.com. With experience as a Member of Parliament, a businessman, and a public servant, Dan's counsel will help drive CCMBC's policy positions in the all-important energy file.
Patrick Moore will assist the board as Special advisor on the Environment. Patrick is a former president of Greenpeace Canada. Since leaving Greenpeace in 1986, Moore has criticized the environmental movement for what he's described as, "scare tactics and disinformation". He argues the environmental movement has "abandoned science and logic in favour of emotion and sensationalism." Patrick's common-sense approach to environmental advocacy will help CCMBC navigate this complex issue.
"We are thrilled to add such expertise to assist our board," said Jocelyn Bamford, President and founder of the Coalition of Concerned Manufacturers.
As a grass roots coalition made up primarily of small to medium-sized businesses, "Our priority is to ensure the viability of business in Canada where 92 per cent of such enterprises employ 100 staff members or fewer. We are the forgotten people in policy decisions." Bamford made the comments from her corrosion coating application plant in Scarborough; a business she operates with her husband.
"This will help us get the message out for small and medium businesses. That voice is absolutely necessary for the health of the economy," said Peter Gossmann, Vice President of the Coalition and General manager of Plasticap.
