The College Student Alliance Launches Mental Health Initiative
TORONTO, Jan. 21, 2013 /CNW/ - After months of collaboration the College Student Alliance (CSA) along with their member schools are pleased to present their mental health initiative, #Blue2013. This campaign will highlight services available on and off their respective campuses through social media, on campus representation and activities on campus for students. #Blue2013 is set to be executed today with most campuses combining this initiative with their Mental Health Awareness campaigns over the next few weeks.
"Initially this campaign was presented to the membership as a social media campaign but it has grown into so much more," says Ciara Byrne, President of the College Student Alliance. "Our members are not only working with their college and community but they are working within their Student Association to shed light on the delicate matter that is mental health within the post-secondary education system."
The policy paper "Mental Health in Ontario's Post-Secondary Education System" that CSA released in May 2012 as well as the CSA's collaboration with the "Focus on Mental Health" summit helped with the creation of this campaign. To date, 15 campuses across Ontario will be participating in this initiative, aiming to have this campaign in both the fall and winter semesters with all schools across Ontario participating.
The College Student Alliance (CSA) is an advocacy organization, which has been proudly serving Ontario's college students since 1975. The CSA currently represents 15 colleges and 22 student associations with over 135,000 full-time student members throughout the province.
