The College Student Alliance Launches The Yellow Umbrella Project
TORONTO, Oct. 23, 2013 /CNW/ - The College Student Alliance (CSA), in partnership with colleges across Ontario, is launching The Yellow Umbrella Project, a campaign to bring awareness to mental health in post-secondary institutions.
The Yellow Umbrella Project is a week-long initiative with a lasting effect. The campaign will be launched at 13 colleges and 18 student associations across Ontario, and on various social media platforms with the tag #YUP. Students and staff alike are welcome to participate in the various promotions taking place; stress balls and umbrellas will be delivered to all campuses, and information cards boasting the campaign's social media tag, #YUP, will be handed out all week. The Yellow Umbrella Project is the follow-up to last year's mental health initiative, #Blue2013, which received national attention.
"We're very excited to see the effect of this year's campaign on campuses across Ontario," says Curtis Bell, President of The College Student Alliance. "It is so important to our members to not only provide the entertaining portion of the campaign but also the resources that are available to students on campus and in their community."
Last year student associations participated in the campaign by using social media, by inviting community organizations and college departments to display information, and through various other activities such as having the St. John's Ambulance Therapy Dogs on campus.
"Our members have been very creative with this campaign and we are looking forward to seeing what they have planned," says Veronica Barahona, Communications Manager of The CSA. "We're looking to break some ground with the next two campaigns with some possible partnerships to further develop this initiative."
The campaign will take place October 28th - November 1st at 13 colleges and 18 student associations across Ontario. For more information on this campaign visit www.collegestudentalliance.ca/YUP.
