The College Student Alliance Opens Application to $1, 000 Leadership Scholarships
TORONTO, Nov. 12, 2012 /CNW/ - Today the College Student Alliance (CSA) Board of Directors continue their commitment to the third annual CSA Leadership Scholarship by opening the application to students from member colleges. The scholarship recognizes 15 outstanding leaders across Ontario who demonstrate exceptional work on campus and in their community. The recipients of this scholarship will each receive a certificate, a letter of recognition, and a financial award of $1,000.00 from the CSA in February 2013.
"This is an incredible opportunity for 15 student leaders across the province to be acknowledged for the dedication to their communities," says Ciara Byrne, President of the College Student Alliance. "Last year we had an incredible response from each college with over 300 applications. This year, we hope to see more students apply due to the increased promotion that CSA and member student associations are carrying out."
The scholarship will be awarded to college students that: demonstrate leadership and good citizenship through service to their college and community; show an ability to motivate others and are in good academic standing as demonstrated by an overall average of 75% or above. Students must have been accepted to or are continuing, without failures in a full-time post-secondary program at a CSA member college.
"We are thrilled to open applications to this scholarship for deserving student leaders across the province," says Jamie Palahnuk, Member Support Manager and contact for the scholarship this year. "There are so many praiseworthy students who will benefit from this scholarship, and we are optimistic that we will have a great response before the December 7th deadline."
The CSA will be accepting applications for the CSA Leadership Scholarship through scholarship.collegestudentalliance.ca website where students can obtain information about the scholarship (criteria and timelines) as well as submit their applications. The CSA Scholarship was created by the 2010 CSA membership to give recognition to students who have shown leadership while maintaining a high standard of scholastic success in their chosen programs.
The College Student Alliance (CSA) is an advocacy organization, which has been proudly serving Ontario's college students since 1975. The CSA currently represents 15 colleges and 22 student associations with over 135,000 full-time student members throughout the province.
