The College Student Alliance Opens Application to $1, 000 Leadership Scholarships
TORONTO, Oct. 28, 2013 /CNW/ - Today the College Student Alliance (CSA) Board of Directors opens applications to the fourth annual CSA Leadership Scholarship to students from member colleges. The scholarship recognizes 15 outstanding leaders across Ontario who demonstrate exceptional work on campus and in their community. The recipients of this scholarship will each receive a certificate, a letter of recognition, and a financial award of $1,000.00 from the CSA in February 2014.
"This is the fourth year that we are offering this award and we couldn't be more excited to present this award to deserving students across Ontario," says Curtis Bell, President of the College Student Alliance. "We're hoping to showcase the award recipients at ceremonies happening late March - mid April."
The scholarship will be awarded to college students that: demonstrate leadership and good citizenship through service to their college and community; show an ability to motivate others and are in good academic standing as demonstrated by an overall average of 75% or above. Students must have been accepted to or are continuing, without failures in a full-time post-secondary program at a CSA member college.
"Our organization sent Information about this year's scholarship to Student Association, Financial Aid and Awards & Scholarship offices in July," says Shannon Pollard, Member Support Manager and contact for the scholarship this year. "We are optimistic that we will have a great response before the December 13th deadline because of this."
The CSA will be accepting applications for the CSA Leadership Scholarship through scholarship.collegestudentalliance.ca website where students can obtain information about the scholarship (criteria and timelines) as well as submit their applications. The CSA Scholarship was created by the 2010 CSA membership to give recognition to students who have shown leadership while maintaining a high standard of scholastic success in their chosen programs.
The College Student Alliance (CSA) is an advocacy organization, which has been proudly serving Ontario's college students since 1975. The CSA currently represents 15 colleges and 21 student councils with over 135,000 full-time student members throughout the province.
