The countdown has begun! - Only one month until a 25th marathon that will rock the city in retro colours Français
MONTREAL, Aug. 20, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - In just one month today, 35,000 runners will take to the streets of Montreal for the 2015 Rock 'n' Roll Montreal Oasis Marathon.
To celebrate the Marathon's 25th anniversary (the first edition launched in 1979), participants are invited to run wearing their very best 80's attire. Sporty terrycloth headbands, pastel or neon leotards, iconic sport shorts, sky-high teased hair or costumes paying homage to the rock bands that defined those years, participants and supporters are invited to "wow" the crowd with their retro looks. They can also enter for a chance to win free participation for two in next year's race by sharing their best photos on Facebook using the hashtag #rnrmtl.
"We want to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Marathon in Montreal and we want all participants and supporters to have fun... All while staying healthy, of course!" says Ms. Dominique Arsenault, the spokesperson of the Montreal Oasis Rock 'n' Roll Marathon, with a wink.
Montrealers seem to share her festive spirit. The enthusiasm surrounding the event has only grown and some races are already full. "At one month to the race, we anticipate to have more runners registered than last year in the Full and Half Marathons, the most demanding races! That is over 21,500 for those two distances only and registrations keep coming in at an increasing rate," proudly adds Arsenault. A family adventure, a personal challenge, the energy of such a huge event - every reason is a great reason to want to cross the finish line! Athletes, amateurs and supporters are invited to experience this unique race that offers five courses, including the most popular half-marathon in Canada.
The incredible musical lineup, a signature touch of the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series, will be rocking out to motivate runners and visitors. More than 20 bands are set to entertain the course, headlined by Canadian band Hedley, who will give a free show at the finish line in Lafontaine Park at around noon. Are you ready to hit the ground running?

About the Rock 'n' Roll Montreal Oasis Marathon
In 2015 the Rock 'n' Roll Oasis Montreal Marathon will be celebrating the 25th edition of the Montreal Marathon. Organized by Festival de la Santé, in conjunction with Competitor Canada, the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series is the world's largest running series, with over 500,000 runners participating in events worldwide every year. The series started in 1998 with the simple idea of making running fun, and has transformed the running landscape by livening up the route with live bands, cheer teams and entertaining water stations, creating a block-party atmosphere for participants and spectators alike. Today, the series of marathons and half-marathons has spread to more than 30 destination cities, drawing visitors from around the world. Over the history of the Rock 'n' Roll Marathon Series, charity partners have raised more than $300 million through the events for a variety of worthy causes.
