MONTREAL, Aug. 29, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Enthusiastically committed to its 2014-2019 major fundraising campaign, the Vanguard Foundation is pleased to announce the major donation of $250,000 from The Desjardins Group and its Foundation, raising the campaign's total to $ 3.2 million of an ambitious objective of $ 4 million.
M. Claude Chapdelaine, President, Regional Council – Ouest de Montréal, notes that educational success and encouraging students to stay in school are themes which are closely linked to Desjardins' mission. He adds that, by joining forces within the Desjardins Group, they are able to give greater support to Vanguard School, whose mission is so valued by Desjardins.
SHARING VANGUARD'S EXPERTISE ACROSS QUEBEC
Stéphane Proulx, Director of Pedagogical Services of the School, notes that Vanguard has extensive expertise that we wish to share with public elementary and secondary schools across Quebec. Many schools in outlying areas are in need of support to help them meet the needs of their students with learning difficulties. Mr. Proulx adds that Vanguard has an exceptional team, consisting of highly specialized staff (special education teachers, remediation specialists, speech and language therapists, psychologists and special educators).
DESJARDINS, VANGUARD'S PARTNER FOR OVER 40 YEARS!
Desjardins has been working with Vanguard since the school's creation in 1973. M. Pierre Poirier, General Manager of the Caisse Desjardins de Bois-Franc-Bordeaux-Cartierville, notes that the education of young people fits perfectly in their mission, which is to contribute to improving the economic and social well-being of people. He adds that Desjardins, with this financial support of the campaign, is contributing, in a tangible way, to the continuation of the mission of the School.
On behalf of the Vanguard family, Carolyn Coffin-Caputo, Director General of Vanguard School, and Nicole de Flandre, Campaign Director, sincerely thank Desjardins for their contribution, adding that the mission of the School is to enable students with learning disabilities to achieve their full potential through an education that fosters academic success, self-esteem, and harmonious integration into society.
Declared to be in the public interest by the Quebec Ministry of Education (MEES), Vanguard School offers specialized education services in both French and English. The School has been at its current location on Côte-de-Liesse since 2013. A leader in its field, Vanguard welcomes more than 1,050 students annually at the elementary and secondary levels.
