The Disciplinary Council of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec strikes Simon Veilleux from the roll for a period of 20 weeks Français
MONTREAL, Nov. 30, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - The Disciplinary Council of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) rendered its decision on guilt and penalty in the case of Simon Veilleux, whose professional domicile is located at 1015 Wilfrid-Pelletier Avenue in Quebec City. Accordingly, he will be struck off the roll for a period of 20 weeks. In its decision, the Disciplinary Council also ordered Mr. Veilleux to pay all costs in connection with the proceedings, including publication costs.
Mr. Veilleux agreed to pay invoices totalling $26,133.25 for fictitious professional services that he then invoiced to Roche. For these actions, Mr. Veilleux was found guilty of violating two sections of the Code of Ethics of Engineers concerning the use of dishonest and doubtful practices and situations of conflict of interest.
Mr. Veilleux's offences occurred in 2007 and 2008, when he was an executive of Les Consultants F.B.G. Inc., a Beauceville-based consulting engineering firm that was acquired by Roche in 2008.
The sanctions imposed by the Disciplinary Council are meant to protect the public by dissuading the professional from repeating the offences and by setting an example for other members of the profession.
The full version of the Disciplinary Council's decision, including the summary of charges, is available on the OIQ's Web site.
