TORONTO, Sept. 30 /CNW/ - HBO Canada, a multiplex channel of Corus Entertainment's Movie Central (Western Canada) and Astral's The Movie Network (Eastern Canada), is taking viewers back into the therapist's office with a third season of HBO's half-hour drama series, In Treatment. The new season begins Monday, October 25 at 9 p.m. ET/MT with two back-to-back episodes, followed by another two new episodes on Tuesday, October 26 beginning at 9 p.m. ET/MT.
Set within the highly charged confines of individual psychotherapy sessions, the series centres around Dr. Paul Weston (Gabriel Byrne), who continues to cope with the after-effects of his recent divorce, his relocation to Brooklyn and new physical challenges, including hand tremors that he fears might be the onset of Parkinson's Disease, which killed his father. In the new season Paul begins treating three new patients; Frances (Debra Winger), a well-known stage and screen actress who has been "blanking out" during rehearsals for a new play; Sunil (Irrfan Khan), a widower and retired math teacher from Bengal, coping with the move to the U.S. and living with his son's family; and Jesse (Dane DeHaan), a 16-year-old homosexual with troubling "patterns of promiscuity," who has actually been in therapy with Paul for some time as we first meet him. Paul also begins seeing a new therapist (Amy Ryan), a younger doctor whom Paul initially contacts in order to renew a sleeping-pill prescription.
New episodes of In Treatment Season 3 will continue to air on HBO Canada Monday and Tuesday nights with two new episodes airing at 9 p.m. ET/MT and 9:30 p.m. ET/MT
In Treatment is adapted from the popular Israeli series B'Tipul, and is executive produced by Hagai Levi, Mark Wahlberg, Stephen Levinson, Warren Leight, Paris Barclay and Rodrigo Garcia. This season's storylines, unlike the first two seasons, are original and not adapted from Levi's Israeli scripts.
The first season of In Treatment, which debuted in January 2008, received five Golden Globe® nominations, the most of any television series that year. Gabriel Byrne won the 2009 Golden Globe® for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series - Drama, and Dianne Wiest won a 2008 Emmy® Award for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. Glynn Turman was also awarded an Emmy® in 2008 for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.
