MONTREAL, May 4, 2012 /CNW Telbec/ - As part of the vast public consultation operation on urban agriculture, the Office de consultation publique de Montréal invites everyone to a one-day exhibition presenting some of the practices and innovations taking place in Montréal. The "Expo under the big tent" will be held on Saturday, May 12, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., in the big tent located behind the Marché Maisonneuve on Ontario Street East, a few streets east of Pie IX Boulevard (4375 Ontario Street East, Pie IX or Viau Metro).
At the event, some 40 exhibitors will present their accomplishments in urban agriculture and recommend tools and techniques for agricultural activities in the city, in yards, on balconies, and even on window ledges! Short workshops will also be held to explain various methods for maximizing the effects and benefits of urban agriculture.
People can also participate in the consultation in other ways. The Web site montrealacultiver.com allows everyone to share their experiences in gardening, agriculture, or any other related projects. Moreover, a series of meetings are planned over the coming weeks to present Montréal's accomplishments in that area, and for discussions and commentary. A calendar listing a large number of activities on urban agriculture is also available at murmitoyen.com/agricultureurbaine.
All available information on the consultation may be obtained at the offices of the OCPM, 1550 Metcalfe Street, Suite 1414. The documentation is also available on the Office Web site, at www.ocpm.qc.ca.
