OTTAWA, Feb. 12, 2015 /CNW/ - The Federal Bridge Corporation Limited (FBCL), its Board of Directors, President and Chief Executive Officer and all of the employees were deeply saddened to learn of the tragic passing of James (Jim) McIntyre yesterday and wish to express their deepest condolences to Jim's family, friends and community.
Jim demonstrated time and again that he was a great Canadian. Interested, persistent and dedicated – these are words that describe the character, life and work of Jim, who has often been heard to say "I was sent here to make a difference". He remained tireless in his efforts to encourage international trade and ensure important infrastructure investments in his beloved community of Sault Ste. Marie and always with the ultimate regards for public resources. "I, as anyone who had the pleasure of meeting Jim, was in awe of his lifetime contribution and most remarkable, well into his eighties, he continued to outpace most Canadians in his passion for serving his community and Canada" said Micheline Dubé, President and Chief Executive Office of FBCL, who also considered Jim a great friend.
At its meeting on Friday, the FBCL Board of Directors will reflect in silence on the memory of James (Jim) McIntyre who passed away tragically on Wednesday and who during his lifetime was a true bridge builder. Jim was the Chair of the St. Mary's River Bridge Company for decades and in that capacity looked after the affairs of the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge with much energy and devotion, business sense and political acumen. Jim continued until his death, to serve as the President of the Sault Ste. Marie Bridge Authority.
