The Trottier Family Foundation donates $7.5 M for CHUM patients
MONTREAL, Nov. 19, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - The Fondation du Centre hospitalier de l'Université de Montréal (CHUM) gratefully acknowledges the outstanding gift of 7.5 million dollars donated by the Trottier Family Foundation as part of its capital fundraising campaign Giving ourselves the best in health care. This unprecedented generous gesture will enable the new CHUM to acquire state-of-the-art equipment, to broaden its initiatives in health promotion and to improve the patient experience, in order to provide the best possible care.
Lorne Trottier, President of the Trottier Family Foundation along with his wife Louise Rousselle Trottier are delighted to offer their support to the Fondation du CHUM. "There are vital moments in the development of a society which must not be missed. As such, a teaching hospital like the CHUM will have invaluable spin-offs in terms of health care for the population of Montreal and the entire province and we take great satisfaction in our ability to have a part in that."
The volunteer spokesperson for the Fondation du CHUM, Yvon Deschamps also wishes to thank the Trottier Family Foundation for this major contribution. "We are very proud to be able to count on the support of this great family of philanthropists! Their donation is an outstanding example of generosity to everyone and a source of inspiration as it demonstrates their deep commitment toward their community."
For Dr. Jacques Turgeon, Chief Executive Officer of the CHUM, this is wonderful news for patients of the hospital: "the involvement of this family shows the growing confidence of the community toward the CHUM and recognition of the excellence of the care it provides.''
A singular example of philanthropy
The capital campaign Giving ourselves the best in health care is one of the most important in the health sector across Canada. To date, more than 60% of the total goal of $300 M has been reached, thanks to the generous donors of the Fondation du CHUM. All donations are given to the hospital for the well-being of patients who are the central focus of the commitment made by the Fondation du CHUM. None of the funds donated will be used in the building of the new CHUM.
