The Fourth Annual Ontario Public Health Convention Kicks Off Monday
Convention gathers experts on important public health issues
TORONTO, March 28, 2014 /CNW/ - The fourth annual Ontario Public Health Convention (TOPHC) kicks off March 31 at the Allstream Centre in Toronto, Ontario. Hosted jointly by Public Health Ontario, the Ontario Public Health Association, and the Association of Local Public Health Agencies, this year's convention explores numerous public health issues, including vaccination, managing food-borne illnesses, e-cigarettes, emerging infectious diseases, and more.
This year's featured speakers include:
- Award-winning journalist and keynote speaker, Trudy Lieberman, on the intersection of media and science to shape public attitudes and health care policy at the sixth annual Sheela Basrur Symposium (Monday, March 31, 2014 9:15AM)
- Dr. Arlene King, Ontario's Chief Medical Officer of Health, on the implementation of Ontario's Public Health Sector Strategic Plan, "Make No Little Plans" (Monday, March 31, 2014 12PM)
- Dr. Patrick Fafard, associate professor, School of Public and International Affairs, University of Ottawa, on the limits of harnessing scientific knowledge to inform public health policy (Tuesday, April 1, 2014 9:15AM)
- Built environment and planning experts Dan Burden and Rob Voigt on the design of the built environment and the health of communities (Monday, March 31, 2014 1PM)
