Recipient of Inaugural Samuel Cunard Innovative Spirit Award, Paul Yeatman
VALENCIA, Calif., Sept. 18, 2018 /CNW/ -- Luxury cruise line Cunard, along with the Canadian Maritime Heritage Foundation and the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic, will award the fourth annual Samuel Cunard Prize for Vision, Courage and Creativity to Kenneth C. Rowe, Founder and Chairman of IMP Group International Inc., a Halifax-based company.
New to this year's program, Cunard, along with its partners, have instituted the Samuel Cunard Innovative Spirit Award, which will be awarded to Paul Yeatman, President of GeoSpectrum Technologies. The two recipients will receive their respective awards on October 5, 2018, onboard flagship ocean liner Queen Mary 2 while she is docked in Halifax, Nova Scotia, birthplace of company founder Sir Samuel Cunard.
"Cunard is proud to host the fourth annual Samuel Cunard Prize event in our ancestral home of Halifax on our flagship Queen Mary 2," said Josh Leibowitz, SVP Cunard North America. "We look forward to acknowledging Ken Rowe and Paul Yeatman, two Canadians who embody Samuel Cunard's hard-working character and dedication to bettering and connecting the world."
The Samuel Cunard Prize was inaugurated in 2015 to celebrate the company's 175th Anniversary in the ancestral home of its founder, Sir Samuel Cunard. The award acknowledges an extraordinary individual who demonstrates the qualities exemplified by Cunard throughout his life.
Kenneth C. Rowe founded IMP in 1967, a company focused on global, sustainable growth, serving customers across diverse sectors such as aerospace & defense, aviation, healthcare, IT, hospitality and property development. As Executive Chairman of IMP, Rowe still remains active in guiding the Group. Named the Atlantic Region's Outstanding Individual Philanthropist by the Association of Fundraising Professionals in 2004, Rowe is well known for supporting organizations in the community such as Dalhousie University, the Red Cross, and the Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia. Mr. Rowe had directed a number of public companies including the Royal Bank of Canada, and has been the recipient of numerous awards including the prestigious Order of Canada. He has been recognized as one of the top 50 CEO's in Atlantic Canada and has been inducted into the Canadian Business Hall of Fame.
The Samuel Cunard Innovative Spirit Award was created to honor an extraordinary individual who, early in their career, has demonstrated the innovative spirit exemplified by Samuel Cunard throughout his life.
The recipient of the inaugural Samuel Cunard Innovative Spirit Award, Paul Yeatman, currently serves as President and Principal at GeoSpectrum Technologies Inc., a Dartmouth, Nova Scotia-based developer and supplier of state-of-the-art marine acoustic hardware and systems. Under Yeatman's leadership, GeoSpectrum became known internationally as a high tech solutions provider in the underwater acoustics field with innovative new products that are supplied to defense, oil and gas, surveillance, and environmental sectors.
Local dignitaries, port officials and key members of the community will be in attendance to celebrate Rowe's award and the journey he has taken to receive it.
