Government of Canada awards nearly $500,000 in financial assistance to the Gespeg Micmac Nation in Gaspésie

The Government of Canada is committed to investing in job creation to grow the economy and create wealth for Canadians. It is aware that communities need to diversify strategically by building on innovation to develop lasting regional competitive advantages. As such, support for the transition and diversification of communities is a Government of Canada priority.
The Honourable Diane Lebouthillier, Minister of National Revenue and Member of Parliament for Gaspésie–Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, acting on behalf of the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for CED, announced that the Gespeg Micmac Nation has been granted a non-repayable contribution of $498,157 to diversify its business activities.
The assistance awarded through CED's Quebec Economic Development Program will help the Gespeg Micmac Nation acquire two business strategists. These resources will help develop economic strategies and seek business opportunities by carrying out linkage and networking activities and creating partnerships.
