Author Paula Hawkins Visits Canada for First Time since Book's Release
TORONTO, Oct. 13, 2015 /CNW/ - The most buzzed about thriller debut of the year, with the greatest number of weeks at #1 on The Globe & Mail bestseller list is well on its way to selling a half a million copies in Canada by the end of the 2015.
The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins, (published by Doubleday Canada, a division of Penguin Random House Canada Limited) debuted at #1 on the national bestseller lists when it went on sale at the beginning of January 2015. Since then, through great word-of-mouth among readers as well as strong bookseller and media support, this UK-based thriller was #1 in Canada for 23 straight weeks until mid-June and has stayed in the top 5 ever since, re-emerging at #1 in mid-August. There have been 16 Canadian printings with over 300,000 copies now in print.
Penguin Random House Canada President and Publisher Kristin Cochrane says, "the readership coming to this book grows week over week and with film rights sold to the fantastic team at Dreamworks, we are confident this momentum won't slow down anytime soon. Paula is an excellent partner in the promotion of her books to readers everywhere. It's exciting for the whole team here to be part of what is a worldwide phenomenon."
