The Globe and Mail Partners with The Canadian Kennel Club to Publish Dogs Annual and Dogs in Canada Magazines
TORONTO, Feb. 26, 2013 /CNW/ - The Globe and Mail is proud to announce that it is partnering with The Canadian Kennel Club's (CKC) respected Dogs Annual and Dogs in Canada magazines. Dogs Annual and Dogs in Canada are the only official publications of the CKC.
The CKC ceased publication of these magazines in 2011 in order to develop an enhanced and more effective means of marketing the joy and benefits of dogs, the many benefits of purebred dogs in society and to better communicate with club members and the Canadian public.
A request for proposal was issued June 26, 2012, seeking a qualified publishing partner for both the monthly and the annual Dogs in Canada magazine.
The plan is to continue to build the brand and extend the 125 years of history already behind it through innovations in production, development, design, print and circulation. The Globe and Mail won the contract based on its vision to refresh the magazine which has a long history of excellence.
"The Globe team will bring a fresh new lifestyle perspective to Canadian pet owners in Dogs Annual and will bring the credibility, authority and expertise of Globe journalism to the purebred aficionados who are loyal readers of Dogs in Canada," said Charlene Rooke, Group Editor, Custom Content at The Globe and Mail.
Michael Shoreman, Chairman of the Board of the Canadian Kennel Club cites the Globe and Mail's long-standing and outstanding reputation as Canada's National Newspaper and its proud history as Canada's oldest newspaper as having a strong influence on the decision to join this partnership.
"The Globe's creative and exciting vision for our publications - a vision that aligned perfectly with, and complemented our own - was paramount," said Michael Shoreman. "We are thrilled to be able to form this partnership - an exciting an innovative way of doing business for the Canadian Kennel Club - and to continue publishing the Dogs in Canada Magazine and the successful Dogs Annual publication."
With a paid circulation of 42,000 copies including 20,000 to CKC members, Dogs Annual has long been a bestseller on newsstands. The Globe will continue to distribute the magazine to CKC members, as well as expand the distribution to pet lovers in the Greater Toronto Area not yet exposed to the benefits of purebred ownership.
