Immaculate Art and Activities Galore Against a Wintry Backdrop in Jonquière
SAGUENAY, QC, Jan. 22, 2019 /CNW/ - Festivals highlight the talent of local artists and artisans while offering citizens the opportunity to get involved in their community. The Government of Canada is committed to supporting events that engage Canadians and give them opportunities to enjoy the social and cultural aspects of community life.
The Honourable Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Multiculturalism, today announced $26,300 in funding for the 35th edition of Saguenay en Neige, which will run from January 31 to February 10, 2019.
This support, provided through the Local Festivals component of the Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage program, will give residents and visitors an opportunity to take advantage of a wide range of free winter activities, including an enormous temporary art gallery, featuring more 200 snow carvings.

Fast Facts
For its 35th edition, Saguenay en Neige—which attracts more than 100,000 visitors each year—will present numerous performances for both adults and children, including King Melrose, the Country Folk tour, Tristan Demers and Fredo.
A fireworks display, an ice sculpture demonstration, slides, zip line, bungee trampolines, entertainment, sport activities and an evening of Latin dance will round out the festival programming.
In addition to showcasing the talent of renowned professional and amateur snow sculptors, the event offers an educational snow sculpture competition for the region's high school students. More than 100 teams, each with five students, compete in this event, which gives students the chance to forge bonds with their peers, develop self‑esteem and motivate themselves to continue their education.
