OTTAWA, Sept. 30, 2016 /CNW/ - Their Excellencies the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada, and Mrs. Sharon Johnston will stay at the Residence of the Governor General at the Citadelle of Québec from October 2 to 5, 2016.
While there, Their Excellencies will invite the public to come and discover the Citadelle of Québec at the fifth annual Fall Celebration. The Governor General will also welcome 4 new heads of diplomatic missions to Canada and present honours to about 60 Canadians in recognition of their excellence, courage or extraordinary dedication to service. He will also recognize the dedication and personal achievements of members of the Association des scouts du Canada.
Mrs. Johnston will also take part in discussions with representatives of community-based organizations in Québec and Trois-Rivières in conjunction with Mental Illness Awareness Week.

Presentation of awards to members of the Association des scouts du Canada
As chef scout of the Association des scouts du Canada, His Excellency will honour more than 100 of its members for excellence in Franco-Canadian scouting. He will also present the Sovereign's Medal for Volunteers to more than 20 recipients in recognition of their dedication and volunteerism. His Excellency will deliver an address on this occasion.
The Association des scouts du Canada counts more than 16 000 French-speaking members across Canada. Its mission is to promote and support the integral development of young Franco-Canadians so they can reach their full potential as individuals and play an active role in society as members of their community. Fall Celebration at the Citadelle
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Journées de la culture, Their Excellencies invite the public to join them at the Citadelle of Québec for the Fall Celebration.
Under the theme of music, the whole family is invited to discover the residence of the governor general, enjoy performances by musicians and artists from the Québec region, take part in various workshops on site and sample culinary delights prepared by the governor general's chefs. All activities are free of charge and will take place rain or shine. More information about this event will be published in a separate media advisory.

Presentation of letters of credence
His Excellency will receive the letters of credence of heads of diplomatic missions representing the following four countries: the Kingdom of the Netherlands, the Republic of Finland, the Republic of Mali and the Republic of Kosovo.
Letters of credence are the official documents by which new heads of diplomatic missions are presented by their head of State as their official representative. Currently, there are more than 170 heads of diplomatic missions accredited to Canada.

Discussion with stakeholders and clients of the Projet Intervention Prostitution de Québec with Her Excellency
Mrs. Johnston will visit Projet Intervention Prostitution de Québec (PIPQ) and speak with some of the team members, who will give an overview of the various services offered by the organization, including intervention, prevention and training. Clients will then describe some of their experiences as sex workers and the difficulties they face.
PIPQ is an independent, non-profit organization founded in 1984. For the past 25 years, the project's mission has been to support boys, girls and women involved in prostitution. For more information, visit www.pipq.org (French only).

Discussion on mental health and innovative practices with Her Excellency
As part of Mental Illness Awareness Week, held October 2 to 8, Mrs. Johnston will take part in a round-table discussion on mental health and various innovative practices in community and public settings with representatives from the Regroupement des organismes de base en santé mentale (ROBSM) in the Mauricie and Central Quebec region.
At 1:30 p.m., Mrs. Johnston will attend a presentation by the ROBSM artists' committee, which will feature individuals who are taking part in various support groups. Following the dance, song and theatrical performances, parents and loved ones of those helped will share their stories.
Mrs. Johnston will have the opportunity to meet with the artists and to speak with them after the performance.
The ROBSM was created to bring together community-based organizations working in mental health in the Mauricie and Central Quebec regions. This network aims to promote and develop organizations to give the public access to a wide range of community-based and alternative mental health services.
