MONTREAL, April 8, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - A few days before the completion of the fourth edition of the Great Food Drive for Children, the three Moissons of the Greater Montreal area: Moisson Montréal, Moisson Rive-Sud and the Centre de bénévolat et moisson Laval, have raised close to $ 100,000. "United for our little ones" is not only the campaign's slogan, it appeals to the generosity of the public to reach the $ 250,000 goal needed by April 10, to make a real difference in the lives of thousands of families living in poverty and struggling to meet their children's needs.
"The fundamental right to feed oneself is at the core of our mission, and a healthy diet plays a crucial role in preventing chronic diseases and various health issues. If every resident of the Greater Montreal area donates $ 0.05 by Friday, we will reach our goal. Otherwise, 20,000 children aged between 0 and 5 in the Greater Montreal area who are at risk of suffering because we have a shortage of essential goods for toddlers", says Dany Michaud, Executive Director of Moisson Montreal.

The money raised will be used exclusively to purchase and distribute food for toddlers with partnering community organizations who have programs specifically targeting families with young children and expectant mothers.
About the Great Food Drive for Children
Initiated in 2012 by Moisson Montréal, the Great Food Drive for Children is an annual campaign that involves two other major food banks, Moisson Rive-Sud and the Centre de bénévolat et moisson Laval, as well as Uniprix, its corporate partner. The primary objective of the Great Food Drive for Children is to raise monetary donations and food for toddlers, in order to help feed over 20,000 toddlers aged 0-5 living in poverty in the Montreal region.
