The highest distinction of the OIQ - Engineer Micheline Bouchard receives the 2015 Grand Prix d'excellence from the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec Français
MONTREAL, May 14, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Micheline Bouchard has won the 2015 Grand Prix d'excellence, the highest distinction given by the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec to its members. This prize has been awarded every year since 1991 in recognition of outstanding professional practice by a Québec engineer. The engineer who receives this prize serves as an example for the profession and is known and recognized for his or her visionary qualities, innovative achievements and social commitment.
A pioneer among engineers, Bouchard was the second woman elected to the office of President of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec and to the same office of the Canadian Council of Professional Engineers (now Engineers Canada), not to mention the first woman president of the Canadian Academy of Engineering. Through her many activities in the world of engineering and her example, she has never ceased to promote the participation of women in engineering and their advancement in Québec society.
Her leadership in the business world has been the source of extraordinary success at companies specializing in various high technology sectors, at the local, national and international level. Her contribution has been acknowledged as critical to the success of the many companies, projects and causes for which she has been solicited.
Bouchard has sat on the boards of directors of multiple companies and participated in many fundraising campaigns. She is currently a member of the board of directors of TELUS and PSP Investments.
She has received many awards and distinctions throughout her career; she was named a member of the Order of Canada in 1995, a Fellow of Engineers Canada in 2009 and a knight of the National Order of Québec in 2011. In addition, she has received five honorary doctorates.
Through its policy on rewarding professional excellence, the OIQ seeks to recognize the achievements of engineers whose careers offer an example of how the values of the profession can be fulfilled: competence, responsibility, ethics, and social commitment. The recipient of this prize is also chosen on the basis of his or her leadership, know-how and self-management skills.
