The Honourable Margaret Norrie McCain visits SmartStart Programs Nov. 8 and 9
CHARLOTTETOWN, Nov. 5 /CNW/ - The Honourable Margaret Norrie McCain visits Charlottetown and Cornwall, November 8 and 9 to meet with the leaders, staff and families of the Smart Start programs supported by her family's foundation.
Working in collaboration with community and government partners, the Margaret and Wallace McCain Family Foundation established Smart Start, an integrated service model demonstrating best practices in early childhood programming. The four Smart Start sites helped inform the government's new Preschool Excellence Initiative and have been selected as Early Years Centres continuing the provision of child care, home visiting, special needs and parenting supports to young children and their families.
Mrs. McCain is also co-author of the celebrated Early Years Studies which brought to policy makers and the public the scientific rationale for investing in programs promoting healthy development in early childhood.
