DARTMOUTH, NS, May 4, 2012 /CNW/ - Amongst the most sought-after tickets this weekend are for Sunday's Princess Tea Party in support of The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada. The event, celebrating all things princess, has grown in popularity since it began six years ago to becoming an annual highlight for local parents and their own little princesses.
"We are thrilled with the response the Princess Tea Party has received from parents and kids, commented Cheryl Matthews, Children's Wish Nova Scotia Chapter Director. The 800 tickets for the event went on sale in mid-December and were sold out by February. An additional 200 have requested to be added to a waiting in case of cancelations. Ads from people seeking have begun showing up on the web.
"The Princess Tea Party has become a special way to celebrate mothers as Mother's Day approaches," says Matthews. "There's tea and cupcakes, a princess parlour for royal makeovers, entertainment and of course, appearances from some of the most famous princesses ever."
Denise Roberts attended last year's Princess Tea Party with her daughter, Julia "It was such a wonderful day," she recalls. "It was one of those wonderful experiences that I got to share with my daughter that I will carry with me for years to come."
The Princess Tea Party has become an important fundraising event to The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada, Nova Scotia Chapter in its mission to grant the most heartfelt wish of children diagnosed with a life threatening illness.
The Tea Party happens this Sunday, May 6th, at The World Trade & Convention Centre. Sydney will also host a Princess Tea Party on Sunday, May 27th. A limited number of tickets for that event are still available.
The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada
Each year, thousands of Canadian children between the ages of three and 17 are diagnosed with a life threatening illness. Since 1984, The Children's Wish Foundation of Canada has worked tirelessly to grant exceptional wishes to 18,000 children and their families.
This year, the Foundation expects to grant over 1,000 new wishes and is proud to have never refused a wish to an eligible child, and with the help of volunteers and generous donors, is able to grant nearly three wishes every day. Each wish is an individual adventure, carefully structured to meet the needs of a particular child and family. The Foundation is a national charity with chapters in every province and territory.
