SAINT-JEAN-SUR-RICHELIEU, QC, Aug. 11, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The International Balloon Festival of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu and its community of pilots are in mourning following the accidental death of hot-air balloon pilot Maxime Trépanier this morning.
The International Balloon Festival extends its most sincere condolences to the Trépanier Family: notably, his wife Édith, their sons Luca and Arthur, his father Normand, his mother Line and his brothers Danny and Steve.
Son of a hot-air balloon pilot, Maxime Trépanier had been brought up in the world of ballooning. Having evolved in various levels of the sport in the last years, he was pilot of one of the eight balloons of the International Balloon Festival's fleet.
In order to extend an homage to Maxime, all the participating pilots will tether their balloons around 6:30pm onsite.
Casting a shadow over the festivities surrounding the 30th anniversary of the event, the regular activities will however carry on until August 18th.
