The Joe Carter Classic and theScore Announce Exclusive Broadcast Partnership
Highlights and interviews from the third annual celebrity golf tournament benefiting the Children's Aid Foundation to air nationwide
TORONTO, June 19, 2012 /CNW/ - Today, the Joe Carter Classic along with Score Media Inc. jointly announced an exclusive partnership to air coverage of its third annual celebrity golf tournament. Available to viewers across Canada, highlights and interviews from the event will be shown on theScore Television Network. The event features high-profile athletes from across North America, including Charles Barkley, Jamaal Magloire, Doug Gilmour and Mitch "Wild Thing" Williams. The Joe Carter Classic has raised more than $250,000 for the Children's Aid Foundation in just two years.
"Partnering with theScore is a great opportunity for us to show viewers the fun and antics from on the course, but also hear from the young people who are positively impacted by the funds we raise in support of the Children's Aid Foundation," said Joe Carter, event host and co-chair. "I'm very grateful to have so many friends who join me each year to make this such a memorable experience for all involved."
"The Joe Carter Classic is one of the top celebrity golf tournaments in Canada," said Greg Sansone, Vice President Operations and Broadcasting, Score Media Inc. "We're excited to be able to showcase this event exclusively to our viewers, and support Joe and the great work this event does for the Children's Aid Foundation in the GTA."
The Joe Carter Classic began in 2010, born out of Joe's combined love of golf and his enthusiasm for helping others. A family man and father of three, Joe wanted to create a star-powered event that would benefit children and youth in Toronto - the town he loves to call his second home.
"Working with theScore and broadcasting to a national audience is a major accomplishment for us and really speaks to the momentum and interest that our event has garnered in such a short time," said James Dodds, event co-chair. "It's an important step in the tournament's development as we grow in size and fund-raising goals. In fact, this year alone we're aiming to raise $250,000."
