MONTREAL, Aug. 28, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The Lise Watier Foundation and the Canadian Women's Foundation announced today their partnership to help empower 1,500 low-income women in Canada on their journey out of poverty. Through a financial commitment of more than $300,000 over three years, the Lise Watier Foundation will help the Canadian Women's Foundation to fund 17 life-changing programs across Canada designed especially for women to learn a skilled trade, start a small business, or get work experience. The partnership will also help grassroots organizations increase their capacity to help women.
Give back to Canadian Women
Poverty touches many Canadian families. A recent poll conducted by the Canadian Women's Foundation found that 51% of Canadians are only two generations removed from poverty.* Women are particularly impacted by poverty in Canada and when you give a low-income woman a chance for a better life, she begins to move out of poverty, taking her children with her.
"I have lived my life for women, surrounded by women, dedicated to women. It is only fitting then, that the Lise Watier Foundation would give back to women. And this time, it is with the help of my great partner, the Canadian Women's Foundation", says Madame Lise Watier, President and Founder of Lise Watier Cosmétiques.
Marie-Lise Andrade, the General Manager of the Lise Watier Foundation added, "We were looking out for the best association with a foundation that has resources in all Canadian communities, a good experience and expertise to manage the execution of a program and most of all, who shares our vision regarding the well-being of Canadian women. We found the perfect fit with the Canadian Women's Foundation. Not only are we progressing in our mission of helping women, but we are also mobilizing in a new way by communicating this message to the consumers."
"The biggest difference for me, having gone through the program, is that my children eat every day."

"The face of poverty in Canada is a woman's face - particularly if she is a single mother, a First Nation woman or a new immigrant. Programs that empower women with the skills and tools needed to have a strong business plan or to learn a new skill are crucial for many women to confidently emerge from challenging circumstances and begin their journey out of poverty," said Kathryn Babcock, Vice President of Strategic Initiatives, Canadian Women's Foundation. "We're thrilled to be part of this generous and important partnership to help empower and change the course of women's lives in Canada."
Lise Watier Cosmétiques is supporting the Lise Watier Foundation by donating 100% of its revenues generated by the sale of the Rose Tendresse lipstick and the Sparkle of Hope Gloss to the Foundation. This initiative helps more and more women getting out of poverty and becoming economically independent every year. Since Lise Watier Cosmétiques launched these beauty products in March 2010, more than $550, 000 were raised.
