MONTREAL, Feb. 27, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - Finally, March break is here—freedom! To kick off this long-awaited time-out in style, the Space for Life invites every family to the megaparty known as Nuit blanche à Montréal on March 2, 2013! In keeping with this year's superhero theme, larger-than-life adventures can be found at the Biodôme and the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium! Celebrations will continue throughout the week of March 2 to 10 as the Space for Life has devised a host of fun and unusual activities to make the most of this winter holiday.
Nuit blanche: A night of adventure!
On Saturday, March 2, get ready for an exciting and eventful night. You're invited: dress up as a superhero and mingle with lots of other colourful characters! Around the Biodôme, don't miss the superheroes of the Antarctic—our penguins—as they make a rare appearance under the night sky (if the weather suits them, of course)! They are simply irresistible! Inside the Biodôme, put your superpowers to the test in a captivating Murder Mystery unfolding in the darkness of the ecosystems. A story full of suspense, intrigue, bizarre suspects and murky characters, hidden clues, strategies and unexpected twists—it's up to you to find out who done it! Near the Biodôme, discover the Fascinating birds of prey in all their splendour as they study the night sky—much like the brand new Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium, soon to be open to the public. Get a sneak peek of this magnificent structure while trying out our telescopes. Horse-drawn carriages will be available to whisk you from one side of the Pôle Parc olympique to the other. Plan ahead: the Nuit blanche isn't long enough to do everything! Find all the details at espacepourlavie.ca.
A week of fun and discovery
While you might be familiar with the Biodôme's ecosystems, do you have any idea of all the expertise needed to create and maintain such different habitats, and to care for such numerous and varied species of plants and animals? The Behind-the-Scenes Rally, from March 2 to 10, is a dream opportunity to meet the people who put their talent and knowledge to good use in order to create optimal living conditions in every ecosystem, and who ensure the well-being of the thousands of plants and animals that live in them. Visit behind the scenes of the Biodôme's veterinary clinic, animal kitchen and insect-breeding area to learn its many secrets. A fascinating and exclusive exploration of our magnificent "house of life"!
And there's more…
At the Botanical Garden, the Butterflies Go Free event continues in the Main Exhibition Greenhouse! Thousands of butterflies from Africa, Asia and the Americas put on an extraordinary, immersive show full of exotic colour! Also starring: the Monarch! Learn how to create a butterfly garden in your yard or on your balcony!
