Canadians across the country gear up to Move to Beat Cancer.
TORONTO, July 11, 2018 /CNW/ - Move to Beat Cancer brings people and their communities together in a dynamic, social and festive way to create awareness about cancer prevention and to raise money for patient programs and research.
The inaugural Move to Beat Cancer begins today and the actual Move takes place Friday September 14 to Sunday September 16, 2018. Participants choose their own way to Move, their Move date, their Move location and raise funds through their personalized sponsorship page.
Participants can sign up as an individual or as a team to run, walk, or ride - any action that gets them moving.
Move to Beat Cancer is an awareness and fundraising project launched by Kidney Cancer Canada | Cancer du rein Canada and supports kidney cancer patient programs and research. As the annual project grows, other underfunded smaller cancer charities will be invited to join.
"One in two Canadians will receive a cancer diagnosis and Move to Beat Cancer is great way to honour survivors and those who passed," says Executive Director Stephen Andrew, "With participants creating their own simple local Move event, we reduce costs and ensure as much money as possible goes to where it's needed most. To help the Move to Beat Cancer get started, we are honoured that Bristol-Myers Squibb will match the first $25,000 raised."
Participants can sign up today at MoveToBeatCancer.org
