"THE MOVIE OUT HERE" to celebrate world premiere at the 2012 Whistler Film Festival
Buddy comedy to be unveiled at splashy 'Blue Carpet' Premiere
WHISTLER, BC, Nov. 29, 2012 /CNW/ - Fresh from the glaciers of British Columbia, THE MOVIE OUT HERE - a truly Western Canadian film - will hold its world premiere at the Whistler Film Festival this Friday.
Whistler audiences will be first to see THE MOVIE OUT HERE when the blue carpet is rolled out on the evening of November 30, 2012. Feature cast and crew including leads Robin Nielsen, Viv Leacok and James Wallis will be on site for the premiere - along with a few surprises - at the TELUS Whistler Conference Centre.
Shot on location around the lower mainland and in the beautiful mountains of Fernie, B.C., THE MOVIE OUT HERE features a talented young Western Canadian cast along with some of Kokanee's favourite characters.
Robin Nielsen, grand-nephew of legendary Canadian comedian Leslie Nielsen, stars as Adam, a junior associate for a large Toronto law firm. When a business trip takes Adam to his hometown of Fernie, he reunites with his old friends Jason (Viv Leacock) and Theo (James Wallis). When he arrives, he finds out that due to a series of terrible business decisions, Theo's ski waxing business "Waxopolis" is in serious financial trouble and at risk of being taken over by an evil developer. The three guys hatch a plan to throw a massive fundraising party to try and save the business. But, with the developer and his son on their back, party permit hassles and a Sasquatch on the loose, will they be able to pull it off?
THE MOVIE OUT HERE is directed by David Hicks from a story by Ian Simpson and Catherine Allen. The original screenplay is written by David Chiavegato and Richard Pryce-Jones.
The film is produced by Laurie Maxwell and Infinity Films' Shel Piercy (Tell It on the Mountain, Almost Heaven) and executive produced by Jeff Sackman (American Psycho, Murderball) and Michael Baker (Textuality, Young People F**king).
THE MOVIE OUT HERE will be distributed theatrically in Canada by Alliance Films in February 2013.
