MONTREAL, Nov. 14, 2014 /CNW Telbec/ - National Bank is proud to have obtained the highest BOMA BESt® certification level at the certificate presentation evening held on November 12 in downtown Montreal. In partnership with the Tower manager, the Bank earned level 4 certification by scoring higher than 90% on the assessment of its environmental performance and management at its head office located at 600 De La Gauchetière West in Montreal.
"In an effort to understand and minimize the impact of its activities on the environment, over the years National Bank has voluntarily implemented various measures aimed at reducing its ecological footprint. This distinction confirms that the Bank's rigorous management in this matter is making a difference. The Bank intends to continue its environmental efforts at its head office, offices and branches, to the benefit of its clients, employees and all its partners," said André Longpré, Manager - Building Engineering and Sustainable Development at National Bank.
BOMA BESt® is the only assessment and certification program of its kind for commercial buildings in Canada and is offered by the Building Owners and Managers Association of Canada (BOMA Canada). It is a unique, voluntary, national program designed to assess environmental performance and management of existing buildings.
The Program provides a consistent framework for owners and managers to critically assess six key areas of environmental performance and management: energy, water, waste reduction and site, emissions and effluents, indoor environment and environmental management system.
This recognition is in addition to the distinction National Bank received in May 2014 from internationally renowned Bloomberg Markets magazine. For the third consecutive year, National Bank was named one of the leading banks in the world for its environmental performance, according to the latest ranking of The World's Greenest Banks. It is also worth noting that National Bank is presently being audited for LEED Canada - EB certification for its head office.
