The Next Star Season 7 to feature new judge, Dan Kanter
Musical Director and lead guitarist for Justin Bieber joins the judging panel for Canada's longest running talent competition series
TORONTO, April 8, 2014 /CNW/ - YTV's The Next Star Season 7 will hit the road on April 26, 2014 for a cross-country audition tour with a new addition to its judging panel, music producer and songwriter Dan Kanter. Originally from Ottawa and based in Toronto, Dan is a multi-instrumentalist, guitarist and performance coach, as well as the Musical Director and lead guitarist for Justin Bieber. He co-produced two of Justin Bieber's albums and co-wrote his song "Be Alright" on the album "Believe". Joining returning judges, country sweetheart Tara Oram and music industry impresario Mark Spicoluk, Dan will bring his wealth of experience to the table in guiding this season's young hopefuls through The Next Star experience.

"Working with young artists, helping them find their voice and learn the skills they need to follow their dreams of becoming a star is my favourite thing in the world. Dan has also directed and performed with Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana, Usher, Miley Cyrus, Drake, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, Mary J Blige, Cody Simpson, Busta Rhymes, Bob Weir of The Grateful Dead, Carly Rae Jepsen and Fefe Dobson. He has appeared on Saturday Night Live, Oprah, Ellen, as well as at Madison Square Garden, and has even performed for the Obamas at the White House. He is currently pursuing his Masters in Musicology at York University.
The Next Star's Season 7 audition tour begins on April 26 in Halifax. The tour will travel across Canada, with open call auditions for singers under 15 years old in each city.
