The only Canadian stop on the World Series of Poker Circuit - At the Casino de Montréal and on Espacejeux.com: 12 rings up for grabs, 99 days of poker! Français
MONTRÉAL, Jan. 27, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - Mitch Garber, influential Montréal businessman and President and CEO of Caesars Interactive Entertainment, and Kevin Taylor, President of Operations at the Société des casinos du Québec and General Manager of the Casino de Montréal, revealed today the tournament schedule of the only Canadian stop on the World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit. The Casino de Montréal and Espacejeux.com will be hosting the qualification tournaments during which poker aficionados will attempt to take home one of the 12 exclusive rings up for grabs. The player with the highest number of points during this step and the winner of the main event, which will be held from April 28 to May 1, will win a seat for the WSOP Circuit National Championship to be held in the U.S. later this summer.
From April 20 to May 1, 2016, 10 tournaments will be held at the Casino de Montréal, while 2 tournaments will be held on Espacejeux.com on May 7 and 8, 2016. The events will be preceded by satellite qualification tournaments held in Québec's four casinos and online at Espacejeux.com. Qualifications will begin on Espacejeux.com starting on January 31, and at the Casino de Montréal and the Casino du Lac‑Leamy starting on March 9, 2016.
Gregory Charles, spokesperson for Québec's Casinos, was on hand at the press conference to announce the various steps of this prestigious tournament. "We are very proud that the WSOP, organizer of the biggest poker event in the world, selected the Casino de Montréal for this event and places its trust in us to manage such a high-calibre poker event," said Kevin Taylor. "As a Montrealer, I feel particularly proud of the fact that the Casino is the only Canadian stop on this remarkable circuit and that a Quebecer could be seated at the WSOP Circuit National Championship," said Mitch Garber.
Espacejeux.com is the only North American website to hold tournaments which could enable a player to win a ring. It also allows new players to place smaller bets while still having a chance to play in the final tournament.
Today's event brought together many poker fans, including artists Jean-Thomas Jobin, Bruno Landry and Jean-Nicolas Verreault.
