The Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec and the Foundation present $158,000 in awards and scholarships to students Français
MONTREAL, April 19, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - In order to encourage future engineers, the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) and the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec Foundation presented $158,000 in awards and scholarships to students this year. The names of the recipients were revealed at the 2016 Soirée de l'excellence en génie, which took place yesterday evening in Montreal as part of the OIQ's Annual Conference.
The Fellowship for Excellence in Graduate Studies and the three Student Awards of Merit were awarded to engineering students who are members of the OIQ's Student Section and whose academic results, as well as social and community involvement reflect the values of the profession:
- Marc-Antoine Lauzon, a doctoral student in chemical engineering at the Université de Sherbrooke, won the Fellowship for Excellence in Graduate Studies, presented by Gestion FÉRIQUE ($7,500 scholarship);
- Liane Bernstein, an undergraduate physical engineering student at Polytechnique Montréal, received the first Student Award of Merit, worth $7,500;
- Yixin Deng, an undergraduate chemical engineering student at McGill University, received the second Student Award of Merit presented by TD Insurance Meloche Monnex, which is worth $5,000;
- Jérémy Brouillard, an undergraduate student in automated production engineering at the École de technologie supérieure, received the Third Student Award of Merit presented by National Bank, which is worth $3,000;
In addition, 49 Scholarships for the Future of the Profession were awarded by the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec Foundation in order to provide financial assistance to students enrolled at CEGEPs (twelve $2,000 scholarships) and universities (thirty-seven $3,000 scholarships).
