QUÉBEC, June 14, 2017 /CNW Telbec/ - Creativity, innovation and excitement were in the air at Québec City's Palais Montcalm as the 19th edition of the OSEntreprendre Gala paid tribute to its provincial prizewinners. Throughout the evening, hosted by Charles Lafortune, 600 guests were inspired by the energy, enthusiasm and courage of a diverse and dynamic generation of entrepreneurs from the 17 regions of Québec.
An array of 34 provincial prizes were awarded (see attached list), representing a total value of nearly $200 000. This sum does not include the $500 000 already distributed in the regions as part of the 19th edition of the OSEntreprendre Challenge which attracted 41 000 participants in 2016-17. The event was attended by OSEntreprendre spokesman Dominique Brown, president of Chocolats Favoris; Lise Thériault, Deputy Premier, Minister responsible for Small and Medium Enterprises, Regulatory Streamlining and Regional Economic Development, Minister responsible for the Status of Women and Minister responsible for the Lanaudière region; Sébastien Proulx, Minister of Education, Recreation and Sports and Minister of Families; Karine Vallières, Member for Richmond and Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier (youth); and Marie-Claude Boisvert, Executive Vice-President, Business Services, Desjardins Group, presenting partner of the event.
"The OSEntreprendre Challenge is rooted in the mobilization and active commitment of a multitude of players from the education, business and social sectors. A source of considerable pride, it helps promote, on a small and large scale, inspiring initiatives that encourage people to believe in their own potential and that of the community, and simply dare to rise to the challenge!," said Manon Théberge, President-Director General of OSEntreprendre.
