The performer who had an accident during his training succumbs to his
injuries
The Ukrainian artist in his twenties was involved in a regular training session on the Russian swing when the accident occurred. He was immediately taken to the hospital where he received the best possible care.
It is with great sadness that Cirque heard the news. "Today, it is all of Cirque that is in mourning, said Guy Laliberté. I am deeply saddened to learn of the death of Sacha. My thoughts are with his parents and his family, to whom I offer my deepest sympathy. Sacha was part of the extended Cirque family for the few months he was among us. An incident like this reminds us of the courage and determination displayed by our artists each and every day. They are exceptional human beings who share their talents with great generosity. Their accomplishments are truly exceptional."
Cirque du Soleil wishes to offer its sincere condolences to Sacha's family, friends and loved ones.
At this time, Cirque du Soleil will not make further comments as a coroner's inquiry on the circumstances of the accident is currently under way. Cirque du Soleil will co-operate fully with the investigation.
