The Port of Churchill Provides Update on Propane Resupply to Community
WINNIPEG, July 6, 2018 /CNW/ - The Port of Churchill ("The Port") has announced that a vessel carrying propane is expected to arrive in Churchill Friday morning, ahead of the planned delivery date in mid-July. The accelerated timeline follows efforts by NEAS, Stittco, the Churchill Marine Tank Farm and The Port to expedite movement of propane into the community.
Weather dependent, the NEAS vessel Umiavut is scheduled to come to berth on Friday afternoon at the appropriate tide. The vessel will offload cargo and propane destined for the community. The transfer process is expected to take 18 hours. The Port of Churchill will coordinate and assist in all efforts to ensure a safe and efficient transfer of cargo and propane to their community partners.
A Woodward's fuel vessel is also projected to arrive in Churchill early this weekend.
The Port and its partner organizations remain committed to doing whatever they can to ensure the supply of propane, fuel products and other essential goods and materials to the community is maintained. The Port will continue to provide updates as events warrant.
