MARKHAM, ON, May 8, 2017 /CNW/ - In celebration of National Hospice Palliative Care Week, May 7-13, Saint Elizabeth is sharing highlights of its impacts in end of life care. Since 2015, the social enterprise has provided $4 million to expand access to care and address gaps at the local and national level.
"Through partnerships and social innovation, we're creating a movement to change the way we die," says Shirlee Sharkey, CEO of Saint Elizabeth, noting that 70% of Canadians currently do not have access to palliative care services.

While the vast majority of Canadians support the need for hospice palliative care, public awareness is low and only a quarter of Canadians over the age of 30 have completed plans for end of life.
