TORONTO, March 31, 2017 /CNW/ - The Pressure Test proves that one wrong move can end a home cook's time in the MASTERCHEF CANADA Kitchen as judges Michael Bonacini, Alvin Leung, and Claudio Aprile revealed that Alisha Sood, a make-up artist from Mississauga, Ont. would be the next competitor to head home in the latest episode. With eight home cooks now remaining, MASTERCHEF CANADA welcomes renowned chef and food activist Jamie Oliver to the kitchen on Thursday, April 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on CTV and CTV Go as the home cooks compete for a spot on his menu at Jamie's Italian.

On this week's episode of MASTERCHEF CANADA, the remaining home cooks arrived at Toronto's Evergreen Brickworks to face their second Team Challenge of the season – creating gourmet burgers and seasoned fries for 200 motorcycle enthusiasts. As the home cooks with the best dishes in the last week's Elimination Challenge, Aaron, Alisha, and Mai were named Team Captains. Aaron, the winner of the Elimination Challenge, got first pick for the Red Team, and chose Trevor and Thea. Alisha, captain of the Blue Team, recruited Matt and Barrie, and Mai chose Justine and Miranda to join her Green Team. The home cooks had two hours to plan, prep, and cook the burgers before their booths opened for business.  The team that sold the most burgers in one hour would win the challenge and avoid the Pressure Test. After feeding 200 hungry bikers and tallying up all the sales, it was Mai's Green Team that came out on top, winning by just 8 orders.

The home cooks returned to the MASTERCHEF CANADA Kitchen, where Aaron's Red Team and Alisha's Blue Team donned black aprons for the Pressure Test. When the judges asked Aaron and Alisha if, given the opportunity, they would save themselves from elimination, Aaron said yes, while Alisha said no. In a surprise twist, the judges gave the home cooks 30 seconds to decide unanimously who to save on their teams. Alisha pushed her team to save Barrie, and Aaron's team backed his decision to save himself. The remaining home cooks were given 45 minutes to prepare Mille-Feuille, a complex French pastry. Thea, Trevor, and Matt turned out admirable dishes, but Alisha failed to recover from the critical error of adding an egg to her dough, and was sent home by the judges.

In the next all-new episode of MASTERCHEF CANADA, "Jamie In The House" (Thursday, April 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT), world-renowned chef and food activist Jamie Oliver challenges the remaining home cooks to create a mouth-watering appetizer for his new chain of Canadian restaurants. The winning home cook not only wins a spot on the Jamie's Italian menu, they also get to pair-up their fellow home cooks for a classic MASTERCHEF CANADA tag team challenge. 

The remaining eight home cooks vying for the title of MASTERCHEF CANADA and the $100,000 cash prize are:

• Barrie McConachie, an employee relations consultant, from Vancouver, B.C.
• Justine Joyal, a business student, from Montréal, Qué.
• Mai Nguyen, a health and safety advisor, from Edmonton, Alta.
• Matt VanderHelm, a category manager, from Toronto, Ont.
• Miranda Wasstrom, a corporate safety administrator, from Edmonton, Alta.
• Thea VanHerwaarden, a broker, from Vancouver, B.C.
• Trevor Connie, a plumber/gas fitter, from Edmonton, Alta.
