MONTREAL, July 5, 2016 /CNW Telbec/ - On Monday, the 21st RBC Golf Challenge for MS took place, bringing 65 golfers together on the greens of the Château Bromont, Royal Bromont and Parcours du Vieux Village golf clubs. During the day, participants accepted the challenge of playing 100 holes of golf or hitting 250 strokes and raised $340,196 for the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada.
"Since 1996, more than $4.5 million has been raised thanks to the Golf Challenge. The success of this event is due to the generosity and passion of donors and golfers. Over the years, their contributions have supported research on multiple sclerosis and the services available to the 20,000 Quebecers who have MS," noted Louis Adam, Executive Director of the Quebec Division of the MS Society.
Columnist and sports commentator Michel Beaudry, spokesperson of the 21st RBC Golf Challenge for MS, was enthusiastic about his experience: "In my first year as event spokesperson, I saw that participants take up the challenge in a spirit of true friendship and healthy competition. In addition to having fun, they are all determined to help advance MS research so we can finally end this disease."
This huge success is largely attributable to the exemplary support of RBC Wealth Management, Dominion Securities, title partner of the RBC Golf Challenge for MS. Because of its high profile and commitment in the business world, this dedicated partner is undeniably helping to advance the cause and make it better known.
About multiple sclerosis
Canada has the highest incidence of multiple sclerosis in the world. MS is a chronic, often disabling disease of the nervous system, which includes the brain, spinal cord and optic nerves. It is one of the most widespread neurological diseases affecting young adults in Canada. It is most often diagnosed in people aged 15 to 40 years old, who must deal with the unpredictable effects for the rest of their lives. The Multiple Sclerosis Society of Canada provides services for people with MS and their families and supports research with the aim of finding the cause of this disease and a cure.
