The Government of Canada awards $155,400 in funding to the Matane hotel
MATANE, QC, Feb. 11, 2019 /CNW Telbec/ - Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions (CED)
The Riôtel Matane is a four-star hotel complex overlooking the St. Lawrence River. It is located along the renowned Gaspé Tour tourism circuit. Canada Economic Development for Quebec Regions has provided the hotel with a $155,400 repayable contribution to allow it to enhance its tourism offer on domestic and foreign markets.
The funding was announced today by the Rémi Massé, Member of Parliament for Avignon–La Mitis–Matane–Matapédia, and Parliamentary Secretary to the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development. The Government of Canada assistance will allow the establishment to finish renovating the hotel's rooms. The refurbishment project will require a total investment of over $300,000.
The Matane hotel complex is a subsidiary of the Riotel Hospitality Group, which also owns two other establishments in the Gaspé: the Riôtel Percé and the Riôtel Bonaventure. The Riôtel Matane hotel has seven modern meeting rooms, a restaurant, two swimming pools—one indoor and one outdoor, and a health centre. It also offers various packages for travellers to ensure an unforgettable stay.
Tourism is a growing sector around the world. Government of Canada support for the development of tourism infrastructure and the showcasing of picturesque local attractions helps generate significant economic benefits in regions and communities.
