TORONTO, Nov. 19, 2012 /CNW/ - The holiday spirit is growing! CTV is full of merriment as audiences for THE SANTA CLAUS PARADE were up 28% versus last year, delivering an impressive 1.1 million viewers on CTV yesterday afternoon, becoming the most-watched parade broadcast since 2004. As a result, CTV announced today it has scheduled an encore presentation (new to viewers in Ontario and Quebec) of the 90-minute extended version of the parade this coming Saturday, Nov. 24 at 12:30 p.m. ET/PT on CTV, marking the one-month countdown to Santa's big night.
After record-breaking crowds were reported on the streets of Toronto, the festive broadcast reached 3.1 million total viewers in Canada and peaked with 1.4 million viewers when the man of the hour, Santa, made his big arrival at the end of the parade. In Toronto, THE SANTA CLAUS PARADE grew with total viewers (+4%) and all key demos (+7 to 9%) vs. last year. The broadcast was the #1 non-sports daytime program with total viewers and all key demos nationally and in Toronto.
A special 60-minute broadcast of THE SANTA CLAUS PARADE airs Saturday, Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. ET/PT on CTV Two, and Saturday, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m. ET/PT on CTV (visit CTV.ca to confirm local broadcast times).
