Rushing to get dinner made at night tops the list for 78 per cent of respondents
MISSISSAUGA, ON, Aug. 9, 2016 /CNW/ - Back to school is one of the busiest periods for families. Preparing for the year ahead brings about mixed feelings of excitement and concern as both parents and kids transition to the season. A study released by Walmart Canada found that in addition to juggling schedules and arranging after school activities, 78% of parents admitted that rushing to get dinner on the table is an ongoing challenge. Meal planning and preparation takes at least 30 minutes for most parents (82%) with dinner taking the most time followed by lunch.
"On top of offering one-stop shop convenience for everything on Mom's list from school supplies to fresh groceries, we're working to make the back to school routine even easier this year," said Paul Del Duca, senior vice president, fresh foods at Walmart Canada. "With the introduction of our Twice as Tasty guide, parents can find kid-friendly meal ideas that save both time and money. They'll only need to prep once but can enjoy twice!"
The Twice as Tasty guide, available online on Walmart.ca, features lunch and dinner recipes with a few common ingredients. Parents can efficiently prep a school snack for kids and set aside some of the items to be used later for dinner. Repurposing key ingredients will help keep the weekly menu interesting and also helps parents maximize meal prep, which 85% of parents would like to save time on.
"Time is the new currency and we understand that saving time wherever possible is so important for families," added Del Duca. "Walmart offers real solutions to help Canadians save money and live better."
Walmart.ca also offers Grocery Pickup in select locations. For the majority of parents looking to save time during their weekly grocery shop (78%), they now have the option to shop for all of their household needs including fresh produce, meat and consumables. Grabbing groceries couldn't be easier, simply shop the aisles online, choose a pickup timeslot that best suits your schedule, and head over to your store where an associate will have your order ready to go.
