Beloved Ontario apple farm brings their Original Apple Blossoms and other scratch-made, frozen fresh treats to your local store
MILTON, ON, Aug.13, 2018 /CNW/ - Every summer and fall for the last 50 years, generations of families have made the trip to Chudleigh's Farm in Milton, Ontario to pick apples, visit the animals, ride the tractors, climb the hay bales - getting everyone feeling like a kid again by feeding their inner child. Topping off so many of those visits is the taste of their Apple Blossom, Chudleigh's signature treat. Now, that memory is available at home, as Chudleigh's announces the arrival of their baked goods in the freezer aisle of grocery stores and other speciality retailers across Ontario.
"It was my mom, Carol Chudleigh, who first began baking apple pie for visitors to the farm," says Scott Chudleigh, co-owner, Chudleigh's Farm. "She would bake them in our oven and serve them warm, by the slice. It was only when a customer came in asking to take a whole pie home did she realize that she may be onto something. Even though we don't make our pies in her kitchen anymore, we take the same approach as she did all those years ago: made-from-scratch recipes and a commitment to quality, fresh ingredients."
The line-up of Chudleigh's baked goods now available at grocery includes the farm's signature Apple Blossoms as well as Molten Chocolate Lava Cakes and Butter Toffee Sticky Cakes. Every product is frozen fresh from the oven at Chudleigh's bakery in Milton - just minutes down the road from the farm itself.
"A lot of people are surprised that we decided to offer frozen desserts," adds Dean Chudleigh, Scott's brother and the bakery's co-owner. "But frozen is the closest way that people can experience the taste of our desserts - no matter where they are - fresh from their ovens, without unnecessary preservatives or processes."
Each product can simply be reheated in the microwave in under a minute. The complete collection of Chudleigh's baked goods includes:
Chudleigh's Famous Apple Blossoms – available in Crumble Crunch, Caramel and Apple Berry varieties
Apple Blossoms start with flaky pastry made from the bakery's signature #3 flour blend (milled never more than a few days before it's baked into your dessert). Inside is a delectable mix of freshly-peeled, locally sourced Northern Spy apples, natural cane sugar and Indonesian cinnamon. Topped with either a simple mixture of pastry crumbs, creamery butter, light brown sugar, rolled oats and more cinnamon, or Chudleigh's freshly made cream caramel sauce made with real 35% cream. Their Apple Berry Blossoms include wild blueberries, blackberries and raspberries mixed with freshly peeled Northern Spy Apples.
Chudleigh's Molten Chocolate Lava Cakes
Molten Chocolate Lava Cakes begin with an all-butter chocolate cake, made with creamery butter, real melted semi-sweet chocolate, cocoa powder, whole eggs and cake flower. Then, there's a delicious surprise inside - Chudleigh's own small-batch chocolate ganache made with whipping cream, semi-sweet chocolate, creamery butter and shortening. The chocolate and cocoa in these scrumptious cakes is also Fair Trade Certified.
Chudleigh's Butter Toffee Sticky Cakes
The Butter Toffee Sticky Cake is definitely worth the time - and napkins! - it takes to eat it. Each mouth-watering moist brown sugar cake is doused in homemade butter toffee sauce made with real cream, brown sugar and real butter.
Each of Chudleigh's new frozen desserts are available in a two-pack, at a suggested retail price between $4.49 and $5.99 per box. The full-line up is currently available across Ontario, at all Metro and Longo's locations, as well as at speciality grocery retailers including Pusateri's, Fiesta Farms and Bruno's Fine Foods.
