The Territoires imaginés exhibition, held over for a second time at Loto-Québec's Espace Création, will run until November 10, 2013 Français
MONTREAL, Aug. 7, 2013 /CNW Telbec/ - The free exhibition entitled Territoires imaginés par les artistes de la Collection Loto-Québec will continue through November 10, 2013 at Loto-Québec's Espace Création. This will be the last chance for Montrealers to see this superb exhibition before it leaves on tour across Québec.
The concept of homeland could not be better brought home than by having it travel to various locations across the province. Therefore, after its stay in Montréal, the exhibition will be in Sherbrooke from January 15 to February 22, 2014, Saint-Jérôme from March 30 to June 8, 2014, and Rouyn-Noranda from September 26 to November 23, 2014. Presented free of charge, the event provides an excellent showcase for Collection Loto-Québec artists as well as increased access to visual arts in a number of regions in Québec.
Moreover, at each regional tour stop, a "green" initiative will be organized in cooperation with the main environmental organizations in the area - a perfectly natural extension to an exhibition that highlights our homeland. A specific announcement will be issued for each project.
This 67-piece exhibition of works by Québec artists depicts places, spaces or objects we know and includes paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures and photographs. In addition, a wonderful text penned by Fred Pellerin describes his personal homeland, real and fictitious, that we have come to know quite well and, at the same time, that lays a backdrop for the exhibition.
"During a painting's lifetime,
The imaginary may spill into what we know
Or landscapes may stretch to the other side of reality
To take on their full dimensions,
To be complete."
In an excerpt of the text that accompanies the exhibition, the storyteller from Saint-Élie-de-Caxton describes how exploring our homeland is both literal and poetic, and can tie together, for example, a Hudson Bay landscape, an artist's studio in Saint-Henri, a three-dimensional Medusa and an oil painting of an old pulp mill in the Saguenay region. The title Territoires imaginés is the namesake of a painting by Giorgia Volpe, a Collection Loto-Québec artist, featured in this impressive exhibition.
