GATINEAU, QC, Dec. 18, 2018 /CNW/ - Today, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) announced amendments to the Canadian Transportation Accident Investigation and Safety Board Act as published in the Canada Gazette, Part II.
The objectives of the amendments are to clarify selected pipeline occurrence reporting provisions and definitions in order to address interpretation ambiguities, as well as to address minor discrepancies between the English and French text of the TSB Regulations. The amendments do not result in any change to costs, and no additional reporting provisions are being introduced.
The amendments take immediate effect. The TSB will update all relevant publications to reflect the updated regulatory terminology and will conduct outreach activities in the form of briefings and meetings with various pipeline transportation stakeholders.
The amendments are detailed in the Canada Gazette.
The TSB is an independent agency that investigates marine, pipeline, railway and aviation transportation occurrences. Its sole aim is the advancement of transportation safety. It is not the function of the Board to assign fault or determine civil or criminal liability.
The TSB is online at www.tsb.gc.ca. Keep up to date through RSS, Twitter (@TSBCanada), YouTube, Flickr and our blog.
