The Weeknd honoured with Allan Slaight Award from Canada's Walk of Fame

TORONTO, Sept. 15, 2014 /CNW/ - Canada's Walk of Fame, in partnership with National Premier Partner RBC, announced today that R&B musician The Weeknd is the recipient of the 2014 Allan Slaight Award. The award, which recognizes young, inspirational Canadians who have achieved international success, will be presented to The Weeknd during the Canada's Walk of Fame Show on Saturday, October 18 from Toronto's Sony Centre for the Performing Arts.

"The Weeknd has catapulted into the mainstream in a relatively short period of time," said Melanie Hurley, Chief Executive Officer, Canada's Walk of Fame. "He is a uniquely talented artist who is driven and dedicated to his work. His overall contribution to music in Canada is something to be applauded, and we are proud to recognize him this year with this award."
