MONTREAL, July 14, 2015 /CNW Telbec/ - Tribu Expérientiel announces the 4th edition of JACKALOPE, the Urban Action Sports Festival, presented by FIDO, this July 17-19 on the Esplanade Financière Sun Life at the Olympic Park. American, Brazilian, Canadian, Czech, French, German, Japanese and Moroccan athletes are coming to Montréal to compete in skateboard, climbing, wakeskate, freestyle motocross, fixed gear, slackline, and highline events. The festival is pleased to welcome the world renowned skateboarder Leticia Bufoni (Brazil) during the World Cup Skateboarding tour's only stop in Canada. ACTION SPORTS SECTION
SKATEBOARD. During this phase of the competition, the only World Cup stop on Canadian soil, athletes (men and women) accumulate points to improve their general standing ($10,000 in prize money). 2014 World Cup skateboard winners automatically advance to the JACKALOPE semi-finals. And in order to encourage future skateboard champions, the promoter is presenting a competition for athletes under 13. VIDÉO
CLIMBING. The public will be able to take in performances by the best Élite level climbers scaling a 60-foot long wall, during an International Federation of Sport Climbing (IFSC) calibre competition presented in collaboration with the Fédération québécoise de la montagne et de l'escalade (prize money: $4,500). It should be noted that the climbing is done without ropes or equipment, at a low wall height. Climbers must find the best way to reach the top through a series of technical movements. In addition to the Élite competition, spectators can sign up to a public competition to be held on Sunday. VIDÉO
WAKESKATE. On a more refreshing note, the wakeskate competition – which is derived from wakeboard and skateboard – will also make its considerable presence known; by both the professional performances as well as the infrastructure itself: two basins, 50 feet by 20 feet, and 200,000 litres of water! VIDÉO
FIXED GEAR. The festival will also feature a fixed gear – or "fixie" – course. This is a 45-minute, criterium-style race, on a 1 km loop, reaching speeds of up to 50 km/h. VIDÉO
FREESTYLE MOTOCROSS. High-flying enthusiasts will get their thrills watching freestyle motocross athlete, Ben Milot wow the crowds with leaps as high as 30 feet! VIDÉO
SLACKLINE & HIGHLINE. Amateurs and professionals of slackline – an urban discipline similar to tightrope walking – will be demonstrating this event throughout the festival; and even lending a hand to people who want to give it a try. We'll also have a highline, which is exactly what it sounds like: a slackline that's quite a bit higher, and covering a distance of 150 feet for the occasion. VIDÉO
JACKALOPE will also be broadcast live online.
