TORONTO, Aug. 14, 2015 /CNW/ - Dino Salciccioli had never won anything in his life and really wasn't expecting that to change when he stopped at the corner store to make his regular lottery ticket purchase. "Unbelievably overwhelming," was how the 44-year-old described the moment he realized he'd won the LOTTO MAX $50 million jackpot from the March 20, 2015 draw.
"I went online first and then to the ticket-checker and when I read 'Big Winner' I just froze," exclaimed Dino while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto where he picked up his winnings. "All these months later and it's still surreal," he said.
Dino is married and shared the news with his wife and only a few other people. "I wanted to step back and absorb what had happened," he said adding "It was important for me to take the time to get my financial affairs in order."
Dino has lived in the Hamilton area his whole life and now calls himself a 'semi-retired' landscape contractor. "I don't have any big plans yet except to pay off some bills," he said. "This amount of money is a massive gift and a big responsibility too."
Dino concedes he's going to need a little more time to get used to being $50 million dollars richer. "This win is a game changer for sure. I am very happy and after all this time, still pinching myself."
The winning ticket was purchased at the Daisy Mart on Main Street in Grimsby.
